Module 1: Introduction to integrating technology into your teaching, learning and assessment

  • How technology can be used effectively in the classroom
  • Explore what is meant by being a digital citizen
  • Safe, reliable and suitable sources of information online
  • Raise awareness among students about being responsible online
  • Privacy issues, cyberbullying, online etiquette and your digital footprint
  • Navigate the Scoilnet website to compile a learning path on a topic

 

Module 2: Numeracy

  • How numeracy based websites can be used effectively in the classroom
  • Investigate content free and content generating websites for teaching and learning numeracy
  • How to use websites to supplement lessons at different stages of numeracy learning
  • Websites to boost children’s problem solving capabilities

 

Module 3: Literacy

  • Explore websites to support modelled, shared, guided and independent phases of writing
  • Navigate websites that have an array of books for all classes and abilities
  • Discuss how websites can elicit the oral competencies of the child
  • Investigate a range of content free and content generating resources for teaching literacy
  • How technology can promote active learning methodologies through the lens of literacy

 

Module 4: Assessment and Integration

  • Identify digital tools to support ongoing assessment at primary level
  • Use digital tools to gather, interpret and use assessment information to inform learning and teaching
  • Explore the uses of ePortfolios within the primary school context to enhance assessment practices
  • Use the TPACK Model Lesson Builder to understand the integration of ICT in teaching and learning

 

Module 5: The Digital Learning Framework and SSE

  • Learn about the objectives, layout and content of the Digital Learning Framework  
  • Outline of the policy documents that led to the formation of the Digital Learning Framework
  • Explore the six-step process to create a Digital Learning Plan and its relationship to SSE

 

Assessment
As you complete each module of the course you will be required to undertake a multiple choice quiz. At the end of the course you will be required to complete an assignment.

If you successfully complete the multiple choice quizzes and the assignment successfully you will receive a certificate of course completion.
