Module 1 – Course Introduction & A brief overview of management and educational organisations

  • Identify and have a basic understanding of the role and skills of management
  • Be able to describe what Principals as managers do
  • List the basic management skills involved in the school context
  • Analyse the organizational structure of their school
  • Analyse & describe the power disparity within their school
  • Gather evidence regarding school’s structure, distribution of power resources and culture for REVIEW element of School Improvement and Self-evaluation process
  • Analyse the context within which SSE must take place

 

Module 2 – Towards Creativity & Innovation

  • Apply techniques to encourage creative ideas
  • Explain barriers to creative thinking and resistance
  • Provide an overview of creative teaching
  • Evaluate the creativity and innovation in their school community
  • Explain how Principals and other school management encourage
    creativity

 

Module 3 – Mastering Motivation

  • Apply the theories of motivation within their school community
  • Describe what motivates learning
  • Assess current motivational environment to identify areas where they are currently motivating and satisfying members of staff
  • Outline the motivational factors that stimulate and sustain student learning
  • Learn some tools and strategies to help increase motivation that they can start applying today to help motivate their school team(s)

 

Module 4 – Time Management Skills

  • Prioritize tasks by understanding how to apply the Urgent/Important matrix
  • Reduce and control interruptions 
  • Analyse the types of activities that take up most of their time
  • Be able to set appropriate SMART goals and objectives 
  • Organise other people in the school community in order to better manage their own time

  • Describe and implement the School Self-Evaluation Guidelines and six-step process
  • Apply the techniques learned in the course to help with SSE
