Teachers will:

Module 1

  • Understand the need for schools to prepare students to contribute to today’s technology society;
  • Recognise the advantages and disadvantages of technology in education;
  • Know the most important policy documents which are guiding digital learning in Ireland;
  • Understand how digital learning planning can be integrated into SSE

Module 2

  • Understand the importance of a strong vision for digital learning
  • Create a strong vision for digital learning
  • Understand the role of the Digital Learning Team
  • Create an effective Digital Learning Team
  • Complete the first step of the Digital Learning Planning Cycle by identifying a focus for your Digital Learning Plan

Module 3

  • Gather focused evidence
  • Utilise a range of methods to gather evidence
  • Analyse different kinds of data
  • Make judgements based on the data collected
  • Complete the second and third steps of the Digital Learning Planning Cycle by gathering evidence, and analysing and making judgements

Module 4

  • Understand how to structure a Digital Learning Plan
  • Set specific and achievable targets
  • Know a range of supports that exist to assist schools in providing appropriate resources for digital learning
  • Use a range of strategies to put the Digital Learning Plan into action
  • Complete the fourth and fifth steps of the Digital Learning Planning Cycle by writing and sharing the Digital Learning Plan, and putting the Digital Learning Plan into action

Module 5

  • Use a range of methods to evaluate a Digital Learning Plan
  • Understand how the evaluation of this cycle of the Digital Learning Plan should contribute to the next cycle
  • Identify some initiatives for the recognition of excellence in digital learning
  • Understand the process for gaining recognition of excellence in digital learning through the Digital Schools of Distinction, Digital Schools Awards and Apple Distinguished School programmes
  • Complete the sixth step of the Digital Learning Planning Cycle by monitoring actions and evaluating the impact of the Digital Learning Plan
